Paint Tool Sai Wacom CTL-460 April 2015 Junior Year MODERN WITCHDigital Media
Paint Tool Sai, Wacom CTL-460 March 2015 Junior Year Just a piece I drew over saturday night to add a little spice to my All-State portfolio. I wanted to kind of play around with personal details like tattoos and jewelry, without drawing the face. I guess it's kind of like a "story-telling" piece? About a literal modern witch. One who likes to sit outside and smoke and wear tank tops and has tattoos of the moon phases and the forest. Her familiar is a bizarre ghost cat.

December 2014 Junior Year ARTIST STATEMENT
This is a 30-minute speedpaint I did to test some colors and warm up my drawings for the evening. It's just a girl with bird's nest hair. She was supposed to be yawning but I messed up the face so it just looks as if she's gasping and winking at the same time which would be really weird. (There's two different versions. Left is unaltered original painting, right is the one with a blue color gradient overlay.) I showed this to my mom and the first thing she said is "she has big boobies what the heck Alexis" |

This is a piece I did for the Art and Writing Scholastic Competition for December 17th. I often like to draw images that have clashing ideas and contrasting imaging. This is a scenario I imagined where Mother Nature is upset with apocalypse survivors for messing up her land and polluting everything. "Look at this sh-t," she says, sitting atop a wild bear and staring at the hordes of mortals with scorn, "you have f-cked up. You have f-cked up so bad. what the f-ck."

Commission for a woman who pays for and collects visual representations of the novel she's writing. This was done in a style of vintage Russian propaganda posters, with a black-white-red color scheme. Also my pen pressure totally crapped out during this, but I made it work.
"Hello! I recently saw your commission listing and was wondering if you would possibly be up to the challenge of doing an art commission inspired/semi-based off of Russian Propoganda posters? It'd be of original characters from a novel, but I was just wondering if you'd be willing to attempt the color-scheme/organization of old posters. I love your art style A LOT c:"

One of my friends, Sasha, came out as a trans girl this year. It's been really rough for her because her family is emotionally abusive and completely not supportive, so she turns to her school's LGBT alliance group for a sense of belonging and acceptance. I'm very proud to call her my friend, and so I made this drawing of Laverne Cox for her. Laverne Cox is a trans rights activist, a transwoman herself, and is the actress for Sophia on Orange is the New Black (A show about a women's prison)

The second realistic painting I ever attempted. As you can see, I really didn't have the energy to finish it, and I also didn't know how to paint hair at all. (jfc) But at that time, I hardly had any courage to draw or paint males, so this was still a big deal to me when I (kind of) accomplished it

This was a commission for a friend of mine, one of his favorite bands is Twenty One Pilots, which is a duo band with Tyler Joseph and Josh Dunn. They're from Columbus, Ohio and write music with sympathy for depression, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. This took a couple hours but it made a really good print

When we were sophomores, Rachel Scrivner was obsessed with the song "Royals" and listened to it probably every single day that year. The first conversation we ever had was her saying "Lexi, bruh, come over here and watch this video look how cool it is" and proceeded to talk about how much she likes Lorde for the entire class period. This year she's obsessed with Melanie Martinez' song "Dollhouse", but I never got around to painting her. This was one of the first 'realistic' paintings I ever tried to do, and painting her messy lion hair was literal hell.

Probably the worst panel redraw in human existence, but I just really love Pierce the Veil and the song "King for a Day" is one of my favorites. I wanted to see if I could make drawings that would actually look like recognizable musicians. Also, for the sake of my dignity, don't look at the horribly scribbled-in background, please.

This was during my Arctic Monkeys phase, when I was so into the song '505'. I love the lyrics and the bizarre, almost macabre mental imagery that the song mood brought to me. I made a weird alternate GIF version of it too.
